DSP Pioneer Siroyan Selects Quickturn for Emulation Solution to Speed Design Cycle
BRACKNELL, UK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 18, 2001--Quickturn, a
Cadence company, today announced the successful integration of the
MercuryPlus design verification system within Siroyan's design
environment, enabling Siroyan to tape out its test chip ahead of
schedule. Siroyan selected MercuryPlus(TM) in March of this year to
form an integral part of the design tool flow for its new OneDSP
architecture.
Siroyan uses a Quickturn(TM) MercuryPlus emulation system to
verify the OneDSP architecture, which unites scalable,
high-performance DSP with RISC functionality and memory management
elements in a single core. The OneDSP architecture is fully scalable,
enabling customers to deploy up to 32 processing clusters to deliver
the performance needed for their particular application. Siroyan has
built a test chip, designated SRU322, which is being manufactured
through UMC's 0.15u process Silicon Shuttle program. The SRU322 is a
2-cluster implementation integrating a number of high-performance
system peripherals.
Quickturn emulation models will be made available to customers
using OneDSP in their system-on-chip (SoC) designs. By developing an
integrated emulation solution, Quickturn will enable Siroyan customers
to gain early access to the OneDSP IP for evaluation and early
development purposes.
``The Quickturn MercuryPlus emulation system enabled Siroyan to
reduce design time by providing rapid system emulation of the whole
test chip, modeling the interactions between design blocks, and
running over 10,000 million cycles,'' said Adrian Wise, chief technical
officer, Siroyan. ``Delivering this level of rigorous testing within
such tight deadlines and taping out ahead of schedule would have not
been possible without MercuryPlus.''
Wise continued, ``MercuryPlus from Quickturn was well matched to
our stringent requirements in developing such a revolutionary new
architecture. Their ability to truly understand our emulation needs
and work closely with us gave us the confidence that the partnership
would be productive.''
``Siroyan's vision of providing its processor technology with
verification models clearly exhibits that it understands what the
market needs as more design teams begin using third party processor
cores,'' said Gary Wilkins, vice president Europe for Quickturn. ``Our
close relationship with Siroyan will not only deliver critical
verification results for them but our joint customers as well.''
About Siroyan
Siroyan's started the OneDSP program in June 1999 with the vision
of becoming the industry-standard DSP IP supplier. The company's
unique OneDSP architecture unites scalable high-performance DSP
processing with RISC functionality and memory management elements in a
single core. The OneDSP architecture is delivered to customers as a
family of synthesizable soft-cores, specifically for SoC designers
addressing the convergence of computers, consumer electronics and
communication. Headquartered in Reading, UK, and with a second design
center in Bristol, the company has grown significantly, expanding its
engineering headcount fivefold within 18 months. More information is
